30 Weeks: 70 Days to Go!

Yay, I'm so happy to have hit another milestone today.  The countdowns are officially on!

30 weeks pregnant, 10 more to go!
70 days until my due date!
42 work days until I go on maternity leave!
4 days until my baby shower!
2 days until my best friend comes to visit with her daughter (and we go on a little beach trip)!

As you can tell, I'm really excited this week.  All these fun things that I have been looking forward to are almost here and I can't wait!

To back up a little bit, another big "30" event occurred on Sunday...my dear husband Art turned 30 years old!  We had a big party for him at a local park with a bunch of our friends and had a great time.  The best part was that after our friends left we just relaxed by the water for a little while alone.  It was great to spend some quality time together before the baby comes.

For his birthday, I got Art a new camera lens so he went picture happy but of course he forgot to get any pictures of the two of us.  Luckily I remembered before we left and got a couple with my iPhone.

Selfie inside the cabana we rented out, it was right by the water:

I said we had to get a picture that showed my belly too, so we asked some friendly strangers.  The Wekiva River is in the background, it was such a beautiful day!

And for my weekly update, here we go (sorry I missed last week):

How far along?: 30 Weeks, 70 days to go!
How big is baby?:  Your baby's about 17 inches long now, and she weighs 3.5 pounds (still a pumpkin). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face.
Any appointments or updates this week?: Everything is going great, I am enjoying the beautiful weather we are having lately and praying it doesn't get too hot too fast!
Body changes?: It seems like my cankles are here to stay, at least until the baby comes.  Otherwise I am feeling good though!  My leg cramps seem to have subsided (knock on wood) and I still have a good amount of energy for now.
Maternity clothes?:  I stocked up on summer clothes at Old Navy the other day, and ordered a cute new maternity swim suit for our beach trip coming up!
Best moment last week?:  Art's birthday
Food cravings?:  Nothing specifically
Symptoms?:  Cankles
Exercise?: I've been slacking.  I hope to get back to walking this week.
What I miss?:  Not a thing, I'm so happy.
What I'm looking forward to?: My shower and my best friend and her daughter coming to visit in two days!!!

Picture Fest!

29 Weeks!  Another week has passed by already!  To quote another blogger that I frequently follow, "Time is going faster and faster. Almost to the point where it's stopped completely."  Pretty much sums up exactly how I have been feeling lately!  (Thanks Weaslewam)

I am really behind on posting pictures, so this is pretty much going to be a picture fest.  Enjoy!

Photos of our adorable niece and nephew...Sophia and Aidan!!!  We visited them in Houston for their baptism.

Entertaining Sophia...she kept laughing and laughing!
Isn't my hubby going to be a great daddy?

I was so upset, with all the traveling I forgot to take my usual weekly bump picture!  But this one is pretty good...

annnd, for your viewing pleasure, here is my usual bump pose from over the weekend at 28 weeks:

I hope to get a few more posts in soon.  But, somebody around here (my hubby) is having his 30th birthday this weekend!  So it's sure to continue being a busy month.  Plus, my best friend and her daughter are coming to visit for my shower in 6 days!  Squeeee!!!!  Can't wait!

Playing Catch Up...Long Update

Wow, it's hard to believe it's only been a week since my last post.  Life has been really busy in just that short time!

Last Friday we flew out to Houston to visit Art's sister and her husband, and their adorable twins!  They have a boy and a girl who are both 5 1/2 months old and they were getting baptized.  Art was the baby girl's godfather and I stood in for the godmother at the ceremony.  It was so much fun getting to spend the whole weekend with family and meeting our gorgeous niece and nephew for the first time.  Pictures coming soon!

Monday morning I had my 28 week appointment, where I got the Rhogam shot and found out that I officially passed the 1 hour glucose test!  Apparently my score was a 77, which is well below where it needed to be.  Woohoo!

After work we went to church for the baptism class (it was a whole long weekend of baptism fun!).  The class was really nice and we knew two other couples there.  It really made things seem real to fill out the form with our little girl's name and information.  We had to leave some things blank like her birth date obviously but at least we are all set for after she is born for her to be baptized.

After the baptism class Art and I celebrated passing my glucose test by getting ice cream.  There is a new place right by our house and it is dangerously good!!!

Delicious soft serve...Yummy!

On Tuesday I had to leave town again for a work event the next day which was 4 hours away. The event was on Wednesday and I came home that afternoon.  So two trips in such a short time has left me feeling very wiped out!  To make things worse, my car's air conditioner wasn't working properly and so I had to drive back without a/c for about half the drive.  I was sure to take it in be repaired first thing Thursday.

And last but not least...

How far along?: 28 Weeks, 82 days to go!
How big is baby?:  By this week, your baby weighs two and a half pounds (the size of a pumpkin) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.
Any appointments or updates this week?:  Thankfully my bladder pain has gotten better.  I am so glad to have passed the glucose test too.
Body changes?:  I officially have cankles!  With the warm weather lately my feet and legs are getting swollen and I am constantly hot, sweaty and uncomfortable.
Maternity clothes?:  I desperately need to get to Old Navy to buy some tank tops and shorts, now that summer has apparently arrived in Central Florida :/
Best moment last week?:  Being with family for my niece and nephew's baptism
Food cravings?:  Nothing specifically
Symptoms?:  Back pain, trouble sleeping and swelling.
Exercise?: We went for a few long walks in Houston.
What I miss?:  Nothing much, I am really happy.
What I'm looking forward to?: My shower which is coming up in just over 2 weeks, and my best friend and her daughter who will be here in exactly 2 weeks!!!

Health Update

I feel like I have been at the doctor's office a lot lately!  I mentioned previously that I went to the doctor last week and then again this week for bladder pain.  They found some blood in my urine last week so they treated me with antibiotics but when I went back this week the culture showed that it wasn't a UTI.  I'm not sure what it was, and the doctor couldn't tell me anything definitive either.  He gave me a couple of prescriptions to treat bladder spasms, since he thinks maybe that's what I am dealing with now (mostly having a lot of sense of urgency to urinate, even right after I go, and some mild pain).

I'm frustrated that I don't know what is wrong.  I don't want to be taking medicine when I don't even know what the cause of my problem is.  I'm taking it right now just to help get through the day but I hope I won't be on it much longer.

In addition, I am going today for my 1 hour glucose challenge test.  For anyone who doesn't know, I have to go to the lab, drink a very sugary drink, then wait an hour and they will do a blood test to check for gestational diabetes.  I hope the test comes back perfect because I have had such a sweet tooth throughout this pregnancy, having GD would be really hard!  So, wish me luck!

Hump Day Bump Day

Here's my picture from over the weekend.  Not as cute as the Easter picture but it was Sunday night and I was just worn out from the week!

I can't believe how big I'm getting, and that I'm going to keep getting bigger for the next 12 weeks!

27 Weeks: Third Trimester!!!

Woohoo!!!!!!  Party time over here today!

Fireworks seem appropriate for my little July firecracker!

I can't believe I'm officially in the home stretch!  The third trimester!  It feels surreal to have just a short 12 weeks left to go.

How far along?: 27 Weeks, 91 days to go!
How big is baby?:   Apparently baby is still the size of a cabbage.  She now weighs over two pounds and continues to put on healthy baby fat.  She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now.
Any appointments or updates this week?: I have another appointment this afternoon to follow up on some bladder pain and discomfort that I'm still having.  I took some antibiotics last week but things aren't 100% cleared up, so I want to make sure something else isn't going on.  I will also be doing the 1 hour glucose challenge test this week!  Let's hope I pass with flying colors.
Body changes?:  Just the ever-growing belly!
Maternity clothes?:  Yep - I'm excited because I ordered two dresses to wear to my shower and my niece and nephew's baptism.  I can't wait for them to come in the mail!
Best moment last week?: It's got to be hitting the third trimester today!  I'm so excited about that.
Food cravings?: Still stuck on the sweets.  I hope to cut back before my glucose test!
Symptoms?:  Besides the unfortunate symptoms I already mentioned,  I've been noticing more back pain recently.
Exercise?: I went for a walk the other day, did 2 laps around my neighborhood.  Life has just been too hectic this week to do much.  I was on my feet for about 4 hours on Saturday though.
What I miss?:  Sleeping comfortably - yep, still this.  And sleeping the whole night through.
What I'm looking forward to?: Visiting my brother- and sister-in-law this weekend to meet my new baby niece and nephew for their baptism!

26 Weeks and Easter pictures!

Hi guys!  I'll get right to the good stuff...bump pictures!  I had Art take my bump picture outside in front of our pretty Easter wreath on Sunday.

Super comfy and pretty Jessica Simpson dress from Motherhood

How far along?: 26 Weeks, 98 days to go!
How big is baby?:   Your baby is the size of a cabbage!  She now weighs about two pounds and measures 14 1/2 inches and she is continuing to put on baby fat.  The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. She may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. She's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air.
Any appointments or updates this week?: I wasn't supposed to have an appointment, but I am going in tomorrow morning to check to see if I have a urinary tract infection (fun!)
Body changes?:  I feel like my belly has gotten so much bigger just in the past week.    It's crazy that I'm going to keep getting bigger and bigger!
Maternity clothes?:  When I was trying on maternity clothes the other day the size Small clothes felt really tight, so now I'm going up to Medium.  Hopefully I can keep wearing the maternity stuff I have though.  Luckily most things are stretchy.
Best moment last week?: Celebrating Easter with our families, it was so special!  I got really emotional in church, everything just hit me.  I am so thankful for Christ's sacrifice for my salvation!
Food cravings?: I might or might not have eaten a whole bag of jelly beans yesterday.  Oops.
Symptoms?: Sore back and feet, and I think I'm getting linea negra.
Exercise?: I did two laps around the neighborhood on Easter with the family.  I have to keep it up.  I want to add swimming and prenatal yoga in, if I can make time for it (and find a pregnancy-friendly swimsuit).
What I miss?:  Sleeping comfortably.
What I'm looking forward to?: Visiting my brother- and sister-in-law in a couple weeks for their twins' baptism!

Double Digits!

Wow!  I can't believe we only have 99 days to go!  Well, that is if our little Sweet Pea decides to show up on her due date (which I'm not counting on).  But still, it's so exciting!  I can't believe that the time has been going by so fast.  One more week and I will be in the third trimester.  It's crazy.

It's great to feel like things are coming together...the nursery, registries, and we even have a date for when we will go take the baptism class at church.  I need to start working on the medical stuff like signing up for the hospital classes and picking out a pediatrician, but I feel like I have enough time for those.  I think we are going to try to take the classes in May because April is going to be so busy and that way the information will be more fresh in our minds for when July rolls around.

We hosted an awesome get together with a lot of my family for Easter yesterday.  Everything went so well!  My in-laws came to town and helped out tremendously with getting our house ready, since we still had a lot of junk in boxes in the formal living/dining room where we ended up setting up a bunch of tables together and making one long table for the Easter meal.  Everyone loved getting a tour of the house and we did an egg hunt for my two cousins and went for a walk around the neighborhood too.

The next big events are Art's 30th birthday on April 28th and then my shower on May 4th!  So many fun celebrations coming up, I can't wait :)
